Our Instructor
Esteban Ricalde
Esteban's Aikido journey began in 1993 at Kobukan Xalapa in his hometown (Xalapa, Mexico). When life took him to Mexico City in 2005, he found a new home at AikiCalli Central Dojo.
His path then brought him to Canada, where he became an integral part of Avalon Aikikai in St. John's, Newfoundland from 2012 to 2023. There, he had the opportunity to teach kids and adult classes. A move to Montreal in 2023 brought him to Agatsu Aikido for a year of training.
Throughout his three-decade journey, Esteban has been fortunate to learn from and be influenced by several remarkable senseis: Emiliano Perez, Yutaka Kurita, Marta Fernandez, Yukio Kawahara, Ivan Booth, Michelle Lapointe, Marcel Lavigne, Yumi Nakamura, and Hayato Osawa.
He tested for Yondan (4th-degree black belt) with Osawa Shihan in the Canadian Aikido Federation Summer Camp at Calgary in 2023.
